Behind the main tower is Yoshi, who will give Mario the ending message and max out his lives to 100. The roof of the castle is built of red brick, but only the flat part of it can be visited. This can only be accessed once the moat is drained. To the west is a secret hole that leads to Vanish Cap Under the Moat. There is also an inclined ramp here that allows exit from the moat. On the east end of the area is a grassy patch with several trees. The cannon is unlocked after the player collects every star. On the bank of the lake is a cannon which can be used to reach the castle roof. A small wooden bridge connects the land around the water.
To the east, the moat deviates into a large lake southeast of the castle. The waterfall leads to the moat, which circles around the front of the castle. To the west of the castle is a large waterfall, which is the exit from the Cavern of the Metal Cap. The west path leads to the edge of the moat, while the east leads to the castle bridge and loops around to the opposite side. A dirt path leads around a hill, and then forks west of the castle. Mario will spawn in a round patch of dirt to the southwest of the castle. The outside of the castle surrounds the front and sides of the castle, with a hill covering the edges of the world. Note: As this is the hub level, there are multiple floors, leading to other locations.
